Youth Gambling Assembly

The Students Commission/Centre of Excellence for Youth Engagement is hosting a Youth Assembly on the topic of gambling and co-addictions. This Assembly will bring together 55 Ontario youth (12-18), addiction experts and youth facilitators to study, discuss, inform and develop recommendations for the Ministry of Health Promotion.

Participants will spend some time before the Assembly familiarizing themselves with the issues surrounding gambling and alcohol co-addictions. During the Assembly, youth participants will have the opportunity to discuss their knowledge and experiences with content experts and facilitators. Through plenary sessions and break-out groups, participants will come together to decide on actions and recommendations.

YMCA Ontario and The Students Commission of Canada, a national charitable youth organization and lead of The Centre of Excellence will provide supervision and facilitation of youth attending for Youth Engagement with support from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and the Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres.

Transportation and accommodation costs will be covered by The Students Commission/Centre of Excellence for Youth Engagement. Funding for this project has been provided by the Ministry of Health Promotion.
